Then Levi or I will take him in to sit on his little seat :)
With Pooh Bear, who he poos with ;)
Some times he sits for a while... But some times he really does have to go right away! If he actually goes, we then give him some Swedish Fish.
A lot of times now he will sign it without really having to go, so it's still a hit and miss kind of thing. In public it kind of plays out like The Boy Who Cried Wolf! He of course still wears diapers, so if we're at the store and it's just not convenient to stop in the middle of shopping with two kids so one can *maybe* pee in a toilet and hopefully not fall in... we just don't try. Not in public. Not yet.
He's definitely doing much better than I had every imagined at this point, though! He first started bringing us clean diapers a few months ago when he had messed the one he was wearing, so we thought, "Why not just buy a little potty and plant the seed?" We figured we would introduce him to it, get him used to it, then eventually start using it. BUT then we taught him the sign for potty, and he just started signing occasionally when he had to go! I love, love, love his sign language! It doesn't conquer all the battles - especially when he's tired - but if he's hungry or thirsty or needs to say sorry to Via for kicking her in the head, he signs it :)
We are moving away from the signing, though, as he rapidly adds to his vocal vocabulary (as seen above).
I just can't believe how fast he's growing... and I hear it never stops *sigh*. At least, soon enough, we won't be buying diapers in size 4 and size 2!
Thank you for this post. I love reading your genuine posts from the heart. I'm grateful for your good example of having a positive attitude. =)
